This Privacy Policy describes how Slop Bowl (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Slop Bowl mobile application (the “App”) and the Slop Bowl website at slopbowl.com (the “Site”), including the public recipe pages people share from the App.

When you use the App, we automatically collect a limited set of product analytics so we can understand which features people actually use and where the App is failing them. This includes:
While you are signed in, this analytics information is associated with your account so we can understand how the App is used over time. We identify you to our analytics provider using your Slop Bowl account ID and email address.
We deliberately keep your content out of analytics. We do not send recipe names, ingredients, instructions, your messages to the AI assistant, folder names, text you paste, or the web addresses you import from. Analytics events carry only identifiers, counts, timings, and fixed labels (such as whether an import came from a link, a photo, or pasted text).
We use PostHog as our analytics provider. We do not use advertising networks, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Apple may also provide us with aggregated crash and performance diagnostics if you have chosen to share them with developers in your device settings. That sharing is controlled by Apple and by you, not by us.
When someone opens a recipe page you shared (a slopbowl.com/r/… link), we record that the page was viewed and whether the visitor tapped a link to download the App. This tells us whether sharing actually helps people discover Slop Bowl.
Visitors to these pages are not identified. We do not link these page views to a Slop Bowl account, we do not set advertising cookies, and we do not store an identifier that persists after the browser tab is closed.

Slop Bowl uses server-side services to generate AI-based responses, extract recipes, and search for cooking information. When you chat with the assistant, import a recipe, or upload a photo, the relevant content (such as your messages, recipe text, or images) may be sent securely to our backend and forwarded to third-party providers — including OpenAI (for AI responses and search) and Exa (for web search) — to generate a result.
We do not send information that directly identifies you personally (such as your name or email address) to these AI providers.
Slop Bowl Premium subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple may share limited transaction information with us (such as your subscription status) in accordance with Apple’s policies, so that we can provide access to premium features.

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. We also retain information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Slop Bowl is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can stop all collection of information by the App by uninstalling it from your device. You may also limit certain types of data collection in your device’s system settings (for example, diagnostics sharing, where supported by the operating system).
You can delete your account from inside the App at any time: open Settings → Delete Account. You can also request deletion by emailing us at help@slopbowl.com.
Depending on where you are located, your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of information outside of your country, where privacy laws may be different from those in your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
